Did you sleep well?
If the answer is no!! Read on.....
I am in the process of writing an easy to follow sleep
After 28 years in the childcare field and many
families calling upon my expertise in this area and having
many success stories.
I have decided to not only offer
sleep consultations (£25 ph), help & advice via email (£10 each)
but to develop an easy to follow sleep training book to help families.
This is paramount to your child as good sleeping habits are beneficial to your child's all round well being, growth and development but incredibly important for your quality of life and relationships.
Feel free to get in touch if you would like any help, support or information in this area.

If you are struggling with your child.
Try turning things around instead of a "No", say a well done and make your child realise how happy they make you feel when they do something good.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SUNCREAM
Yesterday I learnt the hard way!!
I obviously put sun cream on too late!!
We went for a lovely walk, explore and a picnic. We were oblivious of the suns harmful rays and it caught us by surprise!
If in doubt apply it... All children are different with varying skins.
I know now that before we leave home, we will apply!!
Better to be safe than sorry!!
I am feeling very sorry today.
It did not even feel very warm.....

What do we think about Grandparents looking after Grandchildren?
For some it is wonderful for both the Grandparents and the Grandchildren!
For others it can be a nightmare.
My children spent many a day and night with my lovely parents.
My Dad can get wound up quickly and has a short fuse, but deep down he loves being around my children.
Who wouldn't, it keeps you young!!
My parents have always followed my way and never have we conflicted that they knew better!!
Maybe because I am a childcare professional.
I know this is not the case for everyone....
Things change over the years but sometimes the old ways are worth listening too.
You may be the Grandparent but when you agree to help out or babysit, it is paramount that you listen to the parents of your Grandchild, they are the sole carer and may have established a routine to benefit them and their little one.
Parents do take time to listen to the Grandparents they may have something extremely useful to share.
A calm, friendly approach benefits everyone.

What are childcare vouchers? How do they work?
Who can use them?
You can use childcare vouchers to pay for the childcare you use for your children. You can use them at a nursery or a Childminder or Nanny, they must be Ofsted registered.
The part of your gross salary you exchange for childcare vouchers is tax-free and exempt from National Insurance contributions (NI). Because of this, you can make savings of up to £933* a parent, a year. It doesn't cost you anything to sign up for childcare vouchers and the scheme applies whatever rate of tax you pay.

Right way or wrong way!!
Weaning is the process of introducing solid foods into a baby's diet.
It is a gradual process.
By about 6 months, sometimes earlier, your baby will become used to this gentle milestone. In my opinion food is most importantly given slowly and at your baby's pace. Start with just plain baby rice. Just mix up to a loose texture and place towards the lips and allow your baby to lick taste and decide whether she wants to continue.
You will introduce one mealtime to start for a week or so. You can add different flavours such as carrot, banana, parsnip, apple with the baby rice. Use one at a time for at least 3 days to allow you the opportunity to observe what they like and whether there are any allergies emerging.
This process is not a race, it is for your benefit.
As your baby starts to enjoy the tastes you can introduce another mealtime, eventually increasing to 3 times a day when you are both ready.
To start the food you give should be a smooth pureed texture, slowly increasing to small lumps, mashed, then to chopped by approximately 9 months.
During this process as your baby starts to eat more they will drink less milk. This can be given in a beaker or you can offer water. Juices in bottles and beakers can lead to tooth decay, so avoid!
By 1 year your baby should be eating 3 meals a day and bottles/breastfeeds should be near to the end.
